Solution
In order to get the realism and technical perfection my client was looking to achieve, my approach was to take physical production prototypes of each tool with me, photograph each one at a variety of angles, and illustrate on top of the photo reference. This technique proved to be extremely efficient, scalable, and flexible across the dozens of tools developed over a span of many years. My client was extremely happy with the results as we worked together for a long time on a freelance contract basis. Once finalized, the artwork I developed was applied to a wide variety of supporting marketing materials including websites and product packaging.
Challenge
A local tool manufacturer is competing for market share against a competitor. Their products are well made and easy to use. Develop a suite of technical illustrations that showcase the standalone tools and how they're supposed to be used. These will be featured on packaging and across other sales materials.
