The most powerful element in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series is the One Ring of Power, with both good and evil forces fighting for its control. Therefor, it became a prominent design element of my concept, in which it acts as a typographic element as well as a storytelling device. The orc blade drives down through the ring creating tension with the evil forces, depicted as a mirror or shadow below the ring. Travel is also a constant theme, so I created a custom landscape pattern that wraps around each cover and features elements unique to each book. To add high-end visual appeal and a custom flair, the gold foil stamp effect applied to the design elements makes this Collector's Edition a treasure worth fighting for.
