ONBOARDING ASSISTANT

Solution

Starting with interviews of stakeholders and users alike, this data-driven interface design proved to be a huge success. Although the back-end system integrations were complex, the front-end is sleek and intuitive. From requesting a security badge and assigning a workspace, to ordering a laptop and sending out the first-day agenda, a series of forms and buttons cut the average onboarding time down from 10 days to under 20 minutes.

An important aspect of the system was the ability to view progress and track results, so by using a combination of color, copy, and iconography, the Onboarding Assistant keeps constant communication. It streamlined and automated much of the process for managers to help set their new hires up for success—right from day one.

Challenge

With an inconsistent process and varying levels of manager involvement, onboarding new employees became viewed as a tedious annoyance rather than the golden opportunity it really is. Create an interface that's simple, flexible, and integrated with current tools.
